CREP Africa Demands Accountability from GES Over Silence on Wovenu SHTS Incident

The Centre for Research & Education Policy (CREP Africa) expresses deep concern over the continued silence of the Ghana Education Service (GES) following the arrest of the Matron of Wovenu Senior High Technical School, Tadzewu, in connection with the alleged diversion of food meant for students.

Several days after the incident became public, GES has neither issued an official statement nor communicated any administrative action. This lack of response is troubling and falls short of the Service’s responsibility to ensure transparency, uphold discipline, and protect the welfare of students.

This matter goes beyond routine school administration. It raises serious questions about institutional oversight, ethical standards, and the protection of public resources. Silence in the face of such allegations risks eroding public confidence and may inadvertently create the impression of indifference or tolerance for misconduct.

CREP Africa calls on GES to urgently clarify its position, initiate appropriate administrative measures, and communicate openly with the public. Clear action is needed to reaffirm the Service’s commitment to accountability, integrity, and the protection of students’ rights.

CREP Africa remains committed to advocating for transparency and responsible governance within Ghana’s education sector and will continue to monitor developments closely.
